Fasted Cardio for Fat Loss
Studies have demonstrated that during an energy deficit (lower calorie diet) - fasted cardio (not eating prior to doing aerobic exercise) made no difference as compared to cardio after eating.
However during an energy surplus diet (bulking) fasted cardio did show a difference due to improvements in whole-body glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity.
This controversy indicates that fasted cardio should be utilised during the bulking phase (building muscle, high calorie diet) rather than the dieting phase (low calorie).
